Silvio D'Amico
You are going to read a real curriculum, mine, but watch out because it’s written quite informally, adding a few comments and - why not? – some funny anecdotes: it’s definitely a CV that is out of the box, because I wish to introduce myself in an open and sociable manner…otherwise I wouldn’t have chosen this job and I wouldn’t be specialized in training, which means handing down my knowledge to other people.
But let’s start from the beginning. I was born in Copertino ((LE), a quaint little village in Salento, on 30 September 1971. My mother is from Apulia, my father is Sicilian. However, since I was born, I lived in Turin, then in Rome. I my father is one of the many immigrants who, in those years, moved to the North looking for a solid job and economic stability.
Since I was a child, I always dreamed of being a soccer player, but my excellent skills were hindered by injuries.
I obtained a secondary school diploma in accounting in 1992. It wasn’t so easy, considering my poor commitment to studying. I used to play truant so as to go and watch theatre rehearsals.
As I didn’t have very clear ideas about my future in the world of work and as I loved poetry and acting, for some time I was tempted to move to Rome to attend the National Academy of Dramatic Art in Rome (irony of fate, it is named after my homonymous, Silvio D’Amico), but it would have been impossible to support myself and I had to give up the idea.
So, immediately after, in 1993, I decided to do my mandatory military service in the logistic battalion Folgore di Pisa, where I achieved the military parachuting licence.
From 1994 to 2001 I worked in logistics and warehouse management in Bolaffi, a philatelic company and in Borgione, an education material supplier. However, at the end of 2000 my desire to change, to take on new challenges and get involved in a more rewarding job was growing.
On 5th January 2001 I was hired by Lessicom, a Dental Studio Organization Company based in Rivoli (TO), where I specialized in Secretarial Staff Training through a specific management software used by several studios, where I performed my consulting activities. Consider that when I started I wasn’t even capable of switching on a computer!
In this period I had the chance to get acquainted with various dental realities and the main softwares used in the sector. So I decided to take an important step: since April 2004 I’ve been working as a freelance professional in dental studios where I’m in charge of operative training with GSO Management software, provided by Micromatica, a software company in Verona which I collaborate with.
Since 2010 in Clinica Feltre I’ve been in charge of management activities and relationships with staff and collaborators.
Last but not least, under the guise of helping my daughter, I’ve rediscovered my passion for collecting football cards, which I loved when I was a kid. This passion allows me to pull away from the daily issues and stress, although I never forget how important it is to everything well, at one’s best…this may be the reason why in a few years I’ve been rated amid the top 100 card collectors in the world!!
Not so bad for a former parachutist with a passion for theatre…
