Erik Iob
Erik Iob was born on 4.12.1978 in Tolmezzo (CARNIA), in Friuli-Venezia-Giulia, a territory which takes its name from the so-called “CARNI” a Kelt people which had settled there and was disturbed by the Romans: they are rough people, reserved, difficult, unperturbed and endowed with that typical “aggressiveness” which perhaps stems from the mainly carnivore diet of those coming from the harsh lands of Northern Europe. Erik somewhat resembles them, but thanks to his curiosity towards life he’s actually muchmilder.
He has always combined education with sport, starting from skiing, a discipline in which he is a qualified Ski Instructor, and football. Then he switched to experiences which most represent and embody his personality, such as mountain running and cycling.
He’s willing to go the wrong way, as long as he’s following his nature. Once he achieves his secondary school diploma, as an “Electrical and Electronic Technician”, he serves in the army as a “Tank driver”, comes back and works in the papermaking field in the Burgo Paper Mill in Tolmezzo, following in the steps of his grandfather. As he feels to be constrained, within a factory environment, in 2002 he bravely decides to plunge into a university adventure and quit his job one year before graduation, after alternate nights of paper working and paper studying, also supported by his workmates, who are proud of the target he is striving for, and whom Erik defines as “immense”.
On 22.11.2005 he graduates from the faculty of Medicine of Trieste in Dental Hygiene with the mark of 108/110 and embarks on a new path seeking freedom and total independence, He meets Dr. Peter Andersson in January 2006, starts collaborating and bonds with him and with his environment he feels reflected in. Now he is working hard and has a wonderful lifetime partner, Dora. They live together in Foen and have two cats, Happy and Otto.
He is still a relentless competitor: he lives cycling with huge competitive spirit and skiing in the most extreme way. All this has softened him, he’s not a CARNIC through and through. You can come and meet him: he will be waiting for you…
